"The Almost Lost Season"

Season 7 was the most active season to date, as expected. We carried over our fantastic 5-week season outlook from S6 into S7 and had tremendous success. After the shooting patch decimated team strategy in S6 and led to a whole lot of paint stuffing, me (Ocho) and X2 went to work in the MLBALab to find out how to change sliders to compensate for this patch. Guys shouldn’t be getting F shot feedback with a 80 3pt rating that is wide open. So, we ended up adjusting sliders from 47 mid and 3pt to 52 mid and 3pt. The slider change seemed to bring about more shooting success, but also added more luck to the game as it seemed that how well you shot was up to 2k whim, since anyone 75+ 3pt had a decent chance at making an open 3. The style of game changed from paint stuffing to throwing up 3s… which definitely changed the standings and how well some teams did, compared to others.

Furthermore, some cracks were found in our league as the wretched “2k fatigue” set in… Due to this increased variability in games and the start of summer, many guys started reaching the 2k fatigue stage of the 2k cycle. This stage is usually guys who want a break from 2k until the next one comes out and to just enjoy their summer away from competitive online gaming. An OG, Meaks, stepped away from the league and I’m honestly unsure if he will come back for 18… we’re hoping though. Hopefully he doesn’t OD and die…

Anyways, the West maintained its dominance during the regular season over the East, with Takeoff becoming the new king of the West (#1 seed) behind MVP Melo and prime LMA. Timi also made a surprise entrance into the playoffs after being in the MLBA graveyard, with minimal activity, but summer actually rejuvenated his abilities. In the East, X2 and Drummond maintained their dominance, but surprisingly (maybe not), Mr2k made his return to the playoffs after missing out in S6 and took the 3rd seed.

As we got about halfway through the first round, suddenly the playoff screen changed… MLBA was shocked to see the S7 champ was…………. DUYA OF THE TORONTO RAPTORS! Welcome to the --- oh wait… That would never happen if the games were actually played, simming had occurred. Some admin had *accidentally* simmed the playoffs, which of course turned into a witch hunt for the culprit. Polls were posted… and the culprit was clear, muthafuckin teenager Drummond. No one was shocked, and we considered making it a lost season part 2. However, we found a solution, and me and Mr2k spent an hour at 2am EST fixing the league.

Back to the playoffs… TNT ran through the West, and in the East Army was 1 Steven Adams layup from upsetting X2 for the second year in a row. The S7 finals ended up being the norm: TNT’s Jazz V. X2’s Nets. X2 was 2-0 against TNT in the finals up until this point, so we expected this to be the same, but without Dame and Klay the tables were turned. Porzing/Middleton outlasted KAT + youngins in a fairly easy series. TNT finally extinguished his demons by winning that elusive ship over his rival X2.

Second back-to-back champ…copy and pasted into the Hall of Champs: TNT, congrats!
